An Afternoon with Jennie Chen

At Inside Society Canada, we had the privilege of hosting Jennie Chen for an intimate and inspiring conversation on leadership, courage, and personal growth.

As the former Consul General of Canada in Shanghai, Jennie drew on her diplomatic career to share powerful reflections on navigating uncertainty, making decisions in high-responsibility roles, and overcoming career challenges with resilience and clarity. Her insights highlighted that leadership is not only about position, but about presence, integrity, and the ability to stay grounded under pressure.

What resonated most with our members was her honesty—speaking openly about obstacles, self-doubt, and the importance of continuous learning. Her journey reminded us that growth often happens outside of our comfort zones, and that courage is built through action.
